In southern Denmark there is a music festival called Heartland. It’s situated right by a medieval castle. On top of having great music, it also has talks with world famous people and gourmet food instead of the usual lousy fastfood that you get at most music festivals. Hans Christian Andersen is mostly known for his fairy tales. But he was also one of the greatest travelers of his time. He never had a permanent home. Large parts of his life, he lived for free in peoples houses and castles, making him a 19th century couchsurfer, long before anyone had thought about that this would one day be a common thing to do among travelers.

This is the part of Denmark where I grew up as a child.

Having just spend a few days back in southern Denmark, where I grew up as a kid, I thought I would post some photos from the region as it’s actually very pretty and not that visited by other tourists than germans who drive up here during summer months. This is Horne Land where I grew up, I hope you like the photos.
