Mexican food rocks.

Mexican food rocks.

I have been to 75 countries during my travels. I am quite happy with the food in pretty much all countries. A few countries really stick out when it comes to having fantastic food though. These are my 3 favourites.

Mexico.

Mexico is one of the 3 best countries in the world for eating.

I like meat, I like Spicy food and I like “muy rico” as they like to say in Mexico. Mexican food is really really hot when you get away from the tourist trail and I just love it. Mountains of meat with lot’s of chili and then a bit of melted cheese to neutralise the spices a bit when they are about to burn you alive. It’s not healthy, but it’s bloody good. Come on baby light my throat with some Mexican food.

India.

Indian streetfood is so yummy, even when it has no meat in it.

As I mentioned, I really like meat. But I have to be realistic with my body. So I can not live on a daily pound of meat all year round. This is where India comes in with a tasty solution. Again, this is a country that uses spices to perfection. In India you have vegetarian dishes that are both tasty and nutritious. In almost all other countries, I am stuck with food that either has next to no nutrition. Or tastes horrible, when I eat vegetarian. But in India most people are vegetarians, including people who do hard physical labour. So they have created really good vegetarian dishes, where I can actually go out and cycle 125 kilometers after eating it and still feel great. Indian food is tasty and healthy and rocks my world.

Amazing that vegetarian food can look and taste so good.

Malaysia.

Malaysian food has so much diversity.

Malaysian food has so much diversity.

Malaysia is a fantastic food country. First of all because of the ethnical diversity the country has. Having large populations of Malay, Indian and Chinese, you have these 3 fantastic kitchens well represented in all corners of the nation. On top of that you will keep bumping in to other minorities in Malaysia who are represented in the many food courts around Malaysia, making Malaysia a really good place for hunting for a new dish every day. Diversity is a nice thing in general and in Malaysia you can mostly find fantastic food diversity within a few minutes walk in most towns and cities. Penang being my personal favourite with it’s fabulous food courts.

Penang foodcourts are the best.

This was a little about what I think are the 3 best countries in the world for eating.

Eat, drink, travel and be merry 🙂

  1. Yes, Malaysia! That’s my all-time favorite :). Singapore is close (I am not talking about high-end cuisine there) but still less diverse.

  2. Mexico is definitely my favourite! The food is just soooo good!!

  3. Interesting. Mine would be Italy, Turkey and Japan. But I haven’t been to any of your three, though I’ve been to Pakistan and Singapore.

  4. I love how we have become more open to different foods. As a child, there was no way I would have been adventurous with food – just plain meat and 3 vegetables! When traveling, eating the local food is the perfect way to get into the vibe of a new country.

Thanks for the insight. I hope to be in India at the end of the year and I look forward to trying their street food.

    Bon appetit

  5. Ahh lucky you! I cannot eat any of Mexican street food if it has just a bit spices! No salsas for Maja 😀
