Skarø is a small island in southern Denmark that has only 32 inhabitants. 2 of them are my cousins though, so I visit the island frequently. And I totally love the place.

Heartland Festival at Egeskov Castle.

In southern Denmark there is a music festival called Heartland. It’s situated right by a medieval castle. On top of having great music, it also has talks with world famous people and gourmet food instead of the usual lousy fastfood that you get at most music festivals. I just went to Heartland Festival and I loved it.

Hans Christian Andersen statue in Malaga. One city where he was couchsurfing.

Hans Christian Andersen is mostly known for his fairy tales. But he was also one of the greatest travelers of his time. He never had a permanent home. Large parts of his life, he lived for free in peoples houses and castles, making him a 19th century couchsurfer, long before anyone had thought about that this would one day be a common thing to do among travelers.
